Carl Pei announced their first smartphone last month called Nothing Phone 1. This smartphone is the first smartphone for the Nothing brand but not for Carl Pei, so he knows how to create hype for any product. And just like his previously co-founded brand OnePlus, he is focusing on the OS experience for Nothing Phone 1 too.
Nothing OS is going to be the experience coming with the Nothing Phone 1 and of course, it is going to be based on Android. Carl Pei is going with the same near-to-stock Android experience with the Nothing OS too. And as promised at the event, the Nothing launcher is now available to download as a beta to get a taste of what Carl Pei is cooking at Nothing.
Nothing Launcher
Nothing Launcher is a minimal launcher that comes with a near-to-stock experience. You get three Nothing-themed widgets with the launcher which includes two clock widgets and one weather widget. The launcher comes with very limited customization options right now as it is in a beta state right now but it is working fine without any crashes or glitches.
The launcher is following that dotted font theme all over, the widgets and some settings can be seen using that font. Other than that, we also noticed a new type of app folder which you can expand and it will give you access to the most recent apps without expanding the folder. We also noticed that the tooltip menu which appears when you hold any icon on the launcher or app drawer is also squared off instead of being round.

How to Install Nothing Launcher on Android Smartphone
If you own the Galaxy S21, S22 Pixel 5, or Pixel 6 series smartphone, you can easily install the Nothing Launcher from Google Play Store. Support for more smartphones is coming soon. The Link to the Google Play Store page for the launcher is available in the Download Links section above.
Use that link to open the Play Store and install the launcher on your supported phone and start using it normally. But if you do not own the supported devices then follow our short and easy guide below to install the launcher on your Android phone.
- Download the launcher apk file from the download section above.
- Move the file to your Android smartphone.
- Open a file explorer app and navigate to the apk file.
- Open that file to begin installing the apk file.
- Once installed, tap the home button or trigger the home gesture once to access the default launcher popup.
- From there you can choose the Nothing Launcher and set it as Always.
