Samsung has been releasing some of the really good mid-range smartphones lately to compete with the brands like Xiaomi, realme, OPPO, Vivo, and more. The Galaxy F62 is the latest iteration in the F-series smartphones from Samsung. The smartphone comes with a flagship-grade processor and a massive battery that you ever dreamt of in a smartphone.
On the other hand, we have a leading smartphone in this price category from another brand, OnePlus Nord. The smartphone comes with pretty decent hardware and design at almost a similar price as the Galaxy F62. Let’s see which one is the best option for you if you are considering buying one of these phones.
Build and Design: Glass vs Glastic
The Samsung Galaxy F62 comes with a completely refreshed design, never seen before on any mid-range or even flagship from Samsung. The smartphone comes with a polycarbonate build all over including the frame and rear panel. The smartphone is big and chunky all thanks to the large display and a huge battery.
The OnePlus Nord on the other hand is a very typical OnePlius smartphone with an almost similar design as other OnePlus flagships. The smartphone comes with a glass rear panel which is protected with Gorilla Glass protection. The frame is all plastic but doesn’t feel cheap at all. The smartphone fits perfectly in the hands and weighs less too.
When comes to build quality, both smartphones are well built and can withstand some minor abuse. Samsung Galaxy F62 comes with a Glastic rear panel which is a bit better than the polished polycarbonate panel you see on other smartphones. Whereas the OnePlus Nord comes with a Gorilla Glass 5 Panel is better when comes to scratches but prone to shatter.
Display: Super AMOLED vs 90Hz
The Samsung Galaxy F62 comes with a huge 6.7 inches display which is a Super AMOLED panel. It comes with full HD resolution and it comes with a punch-hole design for the front-facing camera. The display is undoubtedly the best AMOLED display you can find in any other smartphone at this price range.
When comes to OnePlus Nord, it comes with a slightly smaller 6.44 inches FHD display which is a Fluid AMOLED panel. The “Fluid” has nothing to do with the display panel technology, it is just that the display can do 90Hz than traditional 60Hz.
Talking about displays, both smartphones got the best displays you can find at that price. It’s a bit tricky to choose one of these smartphones based on the display because both come with one different feature which you lack in another one. If you want a big display then go for Galaxy F62 but if a high refresh rate matters to you more then go for OnePlus Nord.
Operating System: One UI vs Oxygen OS
Talking about the operating system situation, we got One UI 3.1 on Samsung Galaxy F62 while OnePlus Nord runs on Oxygen OS 10. To be precise, the One UI 3.1 on Galaxy F62 is based on Android 11 while the Oxygen OS 10 on Nord is based on Android 10.
Samsung’s One UI came a long way and while it does comes with bloatware, it does not slow down in long-term usage. Where the Oxygen OS gives you an almost stock Android interface with all the necessary add-in features. You get a lot of built-in features in One UI in a pretty package that you can almost use with one hand.
The Oxygen OS comes with a cleaner user interface and a really active community so you can get help from the pros anytime. You also get more and faster Android updates in OnePlus smartphones. Samsung recently took the update thing very seriously and became one of the first OEMs to roll out the Android 11 update.
Performance: Exynos 9825 vs Snapdragon 765G
Samsung Galaxy F62 comes with an Exynos 9825 processor, it is a flagship 7nm processor. This is the same processor which Samsung used in Galaxy Note 10 a few years back. While the OnePlus Nord runs on Snapdragon 765G which is a mid-range processor from Qualcomm with some gaming-centric optimizations.
Both the chipsets are based on a 7nm manufacturing process which is the same as all the flagship processors we have right now. When comparing these processors, you will get more performance out of the Exynos one because it got a higher 2.73Ghz clock on two of its cores compared to the 2.4Ghz on Snapdragon 765G.
Other than the processor, both smartphones come with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory. The Samsung Galaxy F62 comes with a dedicated memory card slot while OnePlus Nord lacks an expandable storage feature. OnePlus Nord comes in 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM variant but you have to pay a lot extra than the Galaxy F62.
Camera: Battle of Quad Cameras
The Samsung Galaxy F62 comes with a quad-camera setup that includes a 64 MP sensor as the main camera. Other than that you get a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro, and a 5MP depth sensor. The smartphone can do 4K at 30fps and comes with EIS to stable the videos. For selfies, you get a 32MP sensor that can also do 4K at 30fps.
The OnePlus Nord also comes with a quad-camera setup but includes a 48MP sensor as the main camera. Apart from that, you get an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 5MP depth, and a 2MP macro camera. Now comes the selfie camera, Nord comes with a dual-camera setup; a 32MP sensor, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. Both front and rear cameras can do 4K at 30fps, it got gyro-EIS for stabilization.
Battery and Charging
The Samsung Galaxy F62 comes with a 7000 mAh battery which is clearly the biggest battery ever seen on a smartphone. For charging, it comes with a 25watt charging and supports reverse charging as well. OnePlus Nord on the other hand comes with a 4115 mAh battery with 30W fast charging which can charge the battery to 70 percent in just 30mnutes.
Pricing
The Samsung Galaxy F62 comes at a price of Rs 23,999 and you can buy it on Flipkart. There is an 8GB variant available too which will cost you Rs 25,999, the sale will begin soon. The OnePlus Nord costs 24,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. You can go full-on 12GB RAM and 256GB storage on OnePlus Nord but it is priced at Rs 29,999. You can buy it on the official OnePlus online and offline store.
Wrapping up
Both the smartphones are a lot different than each other but both of them are a pretty good deal at pricing. If you want a decent smartphone with a high refresh rate display, clean interface, and fast charging then go for OnePlus Nord. But If you want a better camera, big display, and huge battery then go for the Samsung Galaxy F62.
